Our Financial Story
The first question we seem to ask ourselves is often, “so.... what’s it going to cost?”
And this works when we are thinking of starting up a business, when we have a product to sell and market, and when there is profit to be made.
SelfDesign, however, is a non-profit organization. It is not a cost-for-service endeavor, but a community of passionate and intentional individuals who seek to do good in the world. The start-up team in Winnipeg has been working over the last year to create a beautiful community based on the principles of individual freedom and self determination for our youth. The SelfDesign team that has been working with us has volunteered countless hours to mentor us to this point. We are not building a business or providing a service for profit. We are building a sustainable and self-renewing community that serves a need.
With this in mind, perhaps it would be better to ask ourselves: how important is this community to me? And if it is, how can I become a part of it and contribute? There will be monetary costs, of course, in providing mentors for our youth and children. But at this point we would love to bring together a group of people that share a vision, and that, with all their combined resources, connections and positive energy, will find ways and means of making their vision possible.
We believe there are innumerable ways to creatively build three65 into a sustainable and affordable learning community, from fundraising and sponsorships to volunteering our own time and resources. When everyone comes to the table with something to give, and an open and willing spirit, all things are possible.
